Choose how you want to arrive
Gremlin Island supports public, friends, private, and offline play. Public rooms find an available island automatically. Friends and private rooms use an invite code, and every online island supports up to five players. Offline play keeps the world available when you want to explore alone.
Your current customized avatar and active Familiar travel with you. Your personal money, inventory, unlocks, and progress stay private, while movement and shared island activity update for the other players in your room.
Explore before trying to collect everything
The island rewards different actions rather than endless repetition. Look around the main beach, the housing pier, the lighthouse, the waterfall island, Grim’s Workshop, Goldie’s Salon, and the Shipwreck Market. Creatures and effects can change with the time of day, the weather, and your current level.
Blue award petals fill the level flower when you complete unique discoveries and activities. Finishing the flower raises your level and can reveal another creature, tool, shop item, Familiar, or extra. If a fish or shark is still locked, its movement and ripples stay hidden until the matching level reward is yours.
Use the faded quick-action circle
The circle above the money gauge changes with what you are doing. A normal tap opens Commands. When carrying a chicken, crab, or another player with Hulk Hands, swipe up to throw forward or double-tap to put the target down.
With the fishing rod equipped, swipe up near water to cast and tap repeatedly when a bite arrives to reel. Near a burned object, a marker points toward it and changes to START REPAIR when the vines are in range. Tap the burned object or use GO REPAIR on the quick-action circle and your avatar walks into range automatically. Without a wand, repair starts on its own and takes 30 seconds for an item or one minute for a building; the countdown stays visible and sections of the thorny vines fade as work progresses. Equip the Magic Repair Wand to finish much faster with three magic pulses. The final stage restores the object's color and releases repair effects while nearby butterflies gather. The first repair of each object type earns a unique Island Restorer award petal. If two different wand users repair the same object close together, both trigger a larger co-op magic burst. You can still drag the wand to aim, and a quick flick casts a spark.
Watch the weather and fire
Rain leaves moving droplets across the screen and ripples on the island water. Lightning can strike an object or patch of ground, briefly setting it on fire. Thorny vines spiral up palms, crawl over buildings, and wrap around surfboards after they burn. Timed repairs gradually make the vines recede, while the wand clears them quickly with three magic pulses.
Chickens and crabs can also interact with the gathering fire. A cooked chicken leg or crab claw bounces out of the flames so it can be collected safely. A player thrown into the fire becomes a black soot silhouette until they wade through shallow water.
Play together without losing your own progress
Online rooms synchronize player positions, avatar appearances, names, houses, carried creatures, equipment, weather, and the shared world state. A reconnect grace period helps preserve your place after a brief signal loss without creating a duplicate version of your avatar.
Start with whatever catches your eye. Shake a skull palm, follow an animal, try a shoreline cast, visit a player house, or wait for night. Gremlin Island is designed around discovering how its pieces react to one another.
